Help Increase Thickness
Even though your hair is thinner, there are a few steps you can use to help give you thicker, stronger hair. The first is to make sure you wash your hair often. The build-up of oil from your scalp collects on your hair, weighing it down and giving it a thinner appearance. You need a healthy diet full of vitamins and minerals. A lack of vitamins leads to thinner hair. Basically, eating a diet to keep your body in great shape will allow you to keep your hair in great shape as well.
What to Avoid
It is easier to have unhealthy hair than it is to have healthy hair. So many different items can take their toll on your hair. Anything that uses heat to manipulate your hair, such as curling irons, straighteners and hair dryers, can burn your hair and cause damage. The sun can also dry your hair. In addition, swimming in pools will dry your hair because of the chlorine in the pool. This does not mean you need to completely avoid any of these, but instead remember to use them in moderation.
Female Haircuts
Because your hair is thin, you will want to keep it shorter in length. Longer hair tends to separate as it grows, which emphasizes the thinness of your hair. Hair needs to be no longer than chin level to maintain a short look. In addition, try to have the hair styled to draw attention to your face and eyes. Extremely short hair with a few strands brushed over the forehead toward your eyes is a great look that will help draw attention to your eyes. Be careful not to overdo the bangs, though. Heavy bangs may give the appearance of thinner hair.
Men's Style
When it comes to a man's hairstyle for thinning hair, the rules are pretty much the same as it was for a woman. Do not grow your hair long because the hair will begin to separate and your thin hair will be emphasized. Crew cuts (and variations of this cut) is the best way to have the appearence of thicker hair. Hair toward the roots tend to be thicker, so keeping your hair short will give off the effect of having thicker hair. Also try to avoid an overabundance of product, because the thick product will clump hair together and may emphasize the the hair's thinness.
