Dietary supplements are often effective in improving the symptoms of arthritis in dogs, including pain and impaired joint function. Some dogs will require more extensive treatment than supplements alone can provide. Most dietary supplements carry little to no risk of negative side effects.

Metacam is a non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug for dogs that is used to control pain and reduce inflammation. The active ingredient in Metacam is meloxicam. It works to relieve pain and restore mobility in dogs suffering with arthritis pain.
