This is a continuation of How to Quill - the basics, and covers more basic quilling shapes. These shapes are used for borders, filigree work and flower designs. The shapes are not glued as the other basic shapes are.

Quilling is the art of rolling paper strips to form intricate patterns, flowers, animals or whatever your imagination and your fingers can achieve. This is an old craft and probably dates back to at least the 1500's. It was originally used by nuns and monks to decorate religious artifacts, using the cut edges of paper left over by the book binders. The basic technique of rolling strips of paper into coils and scrolls is just the beginning. After mastering the basics then these shapes are combined to make up stunning designs.

System idle processes track the amount of open resources that your computer has available. Each time you launch a program on your computer, that program will use a certain amount of your computer's resources for as long as it runs. Once your computer's CPU usage reaches 100% of its resources, it will run slowly, be unable to respond to your commands and may refuse to open up new programs. Shutting down unneeded programs will help fix the system idle process on Windows XP.

A PDF is a file that has been created to open using the Adobe Reader program. Though you can't usually edit a PDF, you can print them from your computer. If your computer and printer are responding slowly while printing a PDF, this may be because of a lack of computer processing resources during a large print job. If this happens with just one PDF, it may be the fault of the file itself. However, if this happens with all PDFs, there are things that you can do to help free up resources while you print.
